Dear Professors/Researchers / Colleagues

Greetings.

In view of your expertise and interest in laser physics and laser-matter interactions it is my pleasure to invite you (and your research group) to present talks in the international conference on Quantum & Nonlinear Optics (QNO2018)  https://sites.google.com/view/qno18/home at a very attractive 5-star hotel, Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Kuala Lumpur on 2–5 February 2018.

We warmly welcome you to Malaysia and will do our best to assist you

within our means.

This conference connects innovations in laser physics with nanoscience and nanotechnology where quantum effects are relevant at nanoscale, with promising future and new possibilities through the fusion of photons, atoms, molecules and nanomaterials.

More than 2000 international scientists, researchers and a number of Invited Speakers have been invited to this conference.  The main highlights are the 10 prominent scientists as confirmed plenary speakers.

   1. Prof. Girish S. Agarwal - USA

   2. Prof. Andre Bandrauk -Canada

   3. Prof. Federico Capasso - USA

   4. Prof. Howard Carmichael – New Zealand

   5. Prof. Claude Fabre - France

   6. Prof. Yuri Kivshar - Australia

   7. Prof. Franco Nori - Japan

   8. Prof. Marlan O. Scully – USA

   9. Prof. Victor N. Zadkov – Russia

   10. Prof. Nikolay Zheludev - UK & Singapore

Please note the datelines below, register soon, submit abstracts of your talks to qno2018@gmail.com and book your flight (good prices via AirAsia)

   - Abstracts Submission Deadline September 1, 2017

   - Notification of Abstracts Status October 15, 2017

   - Early-Bird Registration Deadline November 1, 2017

Participants are entitled to :

   1. all talks composed of plenary sessions and parallel sessions,

   2. tea breaks, lunch, conference dinner,

   3. one day free excursions and

   4. publication (if accepted) in Journal of Physics: Conference Series (WoS-ISI).

We also welcome many students with very affordable registration fee of USD200 and Best Posters Awards, supported by the OSA.

Kindly spread the conference information ( withattached poster & brochure) to those relevant especially in atomic, molecular, optical physics, optical materials, quantum optics, nonlinear optics, plasmonic and metamaterials.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Prof Dr. C H Raymond Ooi, dr.rer.nat., FASc

Title 2D Materials and Interfaces for Spintronics
Start Date 2017-10-23 09:00:00
End Date 2017-10-25 17:00:00
Place Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2)
Introduction The workshop will bring together a group of leading researchers from Taiwan and Spain working in the fascinating and rapidly evolving field of two-dimensional materials and interfaces for spintronics.

The talks will cover a wide range of topics such as new spin-orbit coupled materials and interfaces (including functionalized graphene, 2D material heterostructures, transition metal dichalcogenides, topological insulators, …) , classical and quantum spin and valley Hall effects, spin relaxation, spin-charge conversion mechanisms, spin pumping, magnetic absorbates on surfaces, magnetic scanning tunneling probes, magnetism and topological phases of matter at interfaces, superconductivity in spin-split systems, topological superconducitivity, superconductor-magnet hybrid junctions, et cetera.

This first joint Taiwan-Spain workshop on “Two-dimensional Materials and Interfaces for Spintronics” will take place in Barcelona, from October 23 to 25. It will be held by the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2). The workshop is co-organized by ICN2 and the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS).
